Default Legal Rights And Obligations After A Teen Turns 18

We live in Pa and have a son who will be 18 April 2008. He tells us he doesn't have to do anything we ask him to or set rules for and we can't make him.
We are looking forward to the day he turns 18 so we can put him out on his own.
We tell him to get a job and start saving, he said we can't force him to work.
He is going to be in 12th grade when he turns 18 and we hear so many different things about when you can legally send your child out on his own. Is it the day he turns 18 or after he graduates?
He's had many years of counseling and therapy and even some residential places plus he is supposed to be on probation but we never hear anything from the PO.
If he is on probation can we still ask him to leave?
If he does get a job can we expect him to pay some of his living expenses since he doesn't think he has to do anything around the house.
    Thank you for any help!!

The age of majority in Pennsylvania is 18. I haven't scoured the statutes for your state, but normally that would mean that you can tell him to move out and get his own place.

It is a common term of probation for somebody who is below the age of 18 to continue to live with their parents. If that is a term of his probation and he will continue to be on probation past his 18th birthday, consider writing to his probation officer, indicating that you want him to move out when he turns 18, and inviting his assistance with the transition.

    Mom...(I'm guessing)

Get your son a nice birthday present for his 18th. A suitcase or duffle bag. Give it to him the day before his 18th birthday and tell him to have it packed by midnight because he is gone the minute he officially turns 18. (of course, you actually have to put him out and not let him back)

    That oughta teach the brat.
