The judge would make thaqt decision of course he make have concern that if your dependent on a roomate your not actually self supporting. Judge could ask you your plan if roomates leaves or stops paying his share of rent

So it seems the best course of action would be to try to find a job or way to ensure that I could support myself without a roommate, or another possible roommate.
    Thanks for your time.

Your best course is find a job and support yourself 100% Court will not accept "back up" roomate as a plan.

Your plans for the future are irrelevant. You have to be living independently and supporting yourself at the time the court hears your petition.

If you are not emancipated.. then you can't be living on your own and supporting yourself.. so how can you prove to the judge that you are doing that if your not emancipated yet????

    a vicious circle isn't it?

But to answer your question; most states do recognize another states emancipation.

You must realize that emancipation does not give you all the rights of an adult either. The biggest thing it does do is allow you to engage in a contract that a minor could get out of because they are a minor. You cannot escape due to still being under 18.

You still will not be able to drink, vote, drive other than anybody else your age could or anything else that is age specific if you are not actually old enough.
