I live in Florida.

I've known my best friend since about 2nd or 3rd grade, were now in 9th. We went to the same elem. school, but got spilt up in middle and are now going to different high schools. She lived with her nana (gma) in elem. but her father got custody again and she now lives with him. I’ve been over to her father’s house and he has a very short temper, and a violent past. He treats her like one of his "buddies". His wife, which has divorced a long time ago, has a drug filled past, and hasn’t had custody of the girl in forever. Anyway, the girl is very outgoing and has been my best friend for so long. My family is seriously her second one. My mother and father treat her like their own child. She’s the only one of my friends there like that too. She's only 14, and we've always joked about her getting emancipated and living with me and my dad. (My parents are split up.) My dad is handicapped, and by law, cannot work, I was wondering if this would affect the process of her living with my family. I have an older sister (17) who is about to move out. So there’s plenty of room, I just don't know if the court will let her live with us of my with him being handicapped and only having a small budget to live on. I wasn’t sure, because my sister is leaving and has a steady job that pays well. So we don’t need to support her anymore. I mean my parents are there for her, but she’s mainly living off her own paychecks. It will be another two years before my friend can live with us, so my sister will be out of the house by then.

When I say my dad is handicapped, he can still drive, and do the everyday thing.

He isn’t like bed ridden or anything.

So I guess my question is, Can she get emancipated (with parent consent) if my father is handicapped?
