Default Minimum Wage Increase in Illinois

We want to increase our hourly rates to stay competitive. How is it best to accomplish this, considering the existing staff and bringing on new staff? Is there a 'stepped' formula somebody has used to increase all hourly employees over a period of time?

That's really an H.R. question, not a legal question. I don't know of any such formula and, even if you could find one, it wouldn't ensure that your wages would be competitive as it would not take into consideration what other prospective employers are paying.

You might contact a local employment agcy. They will sometimes tell you what others are paying in your industry for various positions.

I don't have any such formula either, and I've been in HR for longer than I want to admit.

Betty's suggestion is good; another such source can sometimes be any industry associations for whatever industry you work in.
