Near the completion of my 1-year lease agreement, I gave my 30 days notice that I would be moving out - the others in the house decided to stay. I spoke with the landlord and was instructed not to attempt to collect any deposit money from the current/new roommates. She scheduled a walk through (of my room) - which she called to cancel because she was 'under the weather'. As per her instructions I returned my key, and included my forwarding address to her private residence. That was 23 days ago. I've attempted to get her on the phone - but she won't return my calls.
I read some other threads (because I didn't want to duplicate =) but I didn't find anything along the lines of completion of lease, with roommates staying. So I guess my question is this - given that I completed the 1-year lease that I signed, do I still end up in a position to have to deal with recovering my monies through the previous co-tenants/roommates? Because they're evil, and irrational - and that would suck.
second question - I have no documentation from my landlord, does that work against me as much as I think it does? The only things I have are 1) a copy of the lease I signed, and 2) copies of any letters that I've sent her. The first being my 30 days notice, and the second being a letter that I just mailed off today (in regards to the whole California supreme court 21 day limit on security deposits.)
HELP!
