Default What Laws Might Have Been Broken by the "Trump Train" in Texas

My question involves civil rights in the State of: Texas

What laws might have been broken by the "Trump Train" of cars that surrounded the Biden campaign bus near San Antonio, TX on Friday, Oct. 30, 2020?

I've opined that the behavior of the Trump Train drivers is criminal harassment, but I'm not an attorney. The alleged harassment would involve Texas state law and is hopefully being investigated by local or state law enforcement. Given reports that the Trump Train tried to run the bus off the road, could the harassment have crossed over into assault?

Subsequent news reports have pointed out that the FBI is investigating the incident. What would be the basis of the FBI's investigation? What federal laws might have been broken? Civil rights? Domestic terrorism? Targeting political candidates? Others?

The Texas incident has been the subject of much debate in my community and in the media - social and mainstream. Trump supporters have not only failed to denounce the behavior of the Trump supporters involved in the incident, they've actually praised it. That includes Trump himself, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio and many others. I find those attitudes and the behavior of the Trump Train people disgusting, but I don't have the expertise to comment on the legal aspects of the incident. And of course I wasn't a direct witness. There is video online, but I don't think it tells the whole story.

I'll appreciate input - especially qualified opinions - on the legal aspects of this incident. Thanks.

A follow-up question: who is qualified to answer the questions I posted above? Who should I talk to?

I think one of the problems here is we are getting our information on this event from the media. Yesterday it was Trump's people harassing Biden's folks in this event. Today, the media is reporting the accident was the fault of a Biden driver.

For as long as I can remember, one has needed to go over a media story with a divining rod to find the truth. Some time back the media wrote a story about a friend (a public official) that was wholly inaccurate and damaging to him. He immediately called the reporter and offered to do an in-person interview to set the correct the factual errors and hopefully save his reputation. The reporter declined stating, "We've already got the story out so we're not concerned with the truth."

Today when I read something in the media I assume "something" happened, but not much more. And no, I am not a pesemest. I am merely an optimist who has not arrived at his destination.

I think that you are missing some of the story. Video shot by a Trump supporter showed a caravan of vehicles with Trump flags surrounding a Biden campaign bus, at one point slowing it down to 20 miles per hour on an interstate highway. Per the narrator of the video they were "escorting" the Biden bus. They actually waited and ambushed the bus.

At one point during this, an SUV with a Biden campaigner in it either sideswiped a Trump supporter or a Trump supporter sideswiped a Biden campaigner. Since neither party reported the accident to the police, no one has any way to know the truth of who sideswiped who.

The only thing that we know for sure is that neither Biden nor Harris were on the bus, because otherwise the Secret Service would have been all over the Trump supporters.
