    Default Reporting Child Pornography

Can you get in trouble for reporting a child pornography website to local law enforcement?

    What state/country?

Generally, you will only face the possibility of getting in trouble if their investigation shows that you were more than an accidental visitor. Clicking a risky link and getting dropped into it, realizing what's up and running away? No problem. ISP records or your computer's browsing history shows you went to the site multiple times on multiple occasions, you're going to have some explaining to do.

United States of America, would rather not mention the state. By me filing a police report, they are going to investigate me? I have nothing to hide, but I also don't want there to be any public information that shows I was looked at for something like this.

There is no way ANY of the random internet strangers on this forum can give you more than general answers. You seem very concerned about this, so you may wish to consult with a local criminal defense attorney before reporting anything.

In the abstract world of all that is hypothetical, and given the vagueness of the term "get in trouble," I can't really conceive how the answer to this question could be anything other than yes.

That said, it is likely that any "get[ting] in trouble" would result from involvement in the illegal activity and not from the mere act of reporting something.

In the thread you started at another site (which was locked for some baffling reason), you mentioned the State of Pennsylvania. In any event, the answer is that, since you have provided absolutely no factual information, no one on any message board is going to have the slightest idea whether you will or won't be investigated.

No idea. The cops won't investigate you unless they think that there is some reason to believe you committed a crime. So they won't investigate you for this unless something you said in your report to the police suggests you knowingly go out and get kiddie porn or something in their investigation of the site you reported provides information that you actively download child porn. In short, they aren't going to go chasing you unless they have something that suggests to them that the chase will be worth their time.
