    Default Banned from Mailbox

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: CT

Since covid-19, I have been told not to go in the mailbox. The homeowner gets the mail and distributes accordingly.
Yesterday I received an email notification from ebay that a delivery was made and I never got the package, and he insists that it was not in the box.
I told him that I want to access the mailbox as before, but he says no.
Is he legally allowed to keep me out of the mailbox?

Been told by whom? What mailbox? Why would you want to go in a mailbox?

You haven't given us any information that would allow us to determine whether he has that ability.

    It doesn't matter by whom.

    What mailbox?
What a dumb question. Who's do you think? His mailbox.

Why would you want to goin a mailbox?
The same reason anyone would go into their mailbox...to get their mail.

Nobody has the right to enter and touch another person's mail. Unless you can give an example of someone who does have that right, other than the postman who the OP is obviously not referring to?

A bunch of dumb questions as usual.

Simple answer is that nobody has the right to touch your mail no matter how scared they are of the china flu.

Since the OP mentioned "homeowner", I'm betting there is but one mailbox to access. And the homeowner has every right to touch the OP's, other tenants and his/her own mail and to hand it out to the individuals.

Do you have a mailbox separate from the homeowner's mailbox? Where is the mailbox located — it is in an area that is under the homeowner's sole control, a common area, or what? In other words, a short description of how the mail setup at your place works would be helpful in sorting out what rights each of you has with respect to access of the mailbox.

Incase you did not know, the mailbox does not belong to the homeowner, and tampering with other people's mail within that box is a federal offense.

Wait, the Feds will come get me for throwing out my wife's junk mail when it's addressed specifically to her but I throw it out without asking because it is clearly junk mail?

What if the junk mail is addressed to my neighbor? Can they get me for that too?

Because no mailboxes belong to the homeowner. They are property of and controlled by the Federal Govt.
