Default Police Officer Interfering With Marriage

A police officer is dating a married woman who has admitted this to her husband. She admits to spending nights with him but not to sexual relations. He was also told that the officer is "supposedly" separated from his own wife. The affair has continued behind the husband's back. Since the confession from the wife, the couple are now separating and pushing toward divorce. They have never seperated before or even discussed it until now, and they have a small child. Husband willing to work it out and forgive, wife is not. Is this police officer breaking a law or conduct code while seeing the married woman and contributing to the marriage breakup? Can his job be at stake?
