Cross-reference the charge you face to the statute. But as previously noted, "hard labor" as a penalty now exists largely on paper as opposed to in practice.

mleh...
so... i signed this contract for one month. they fingerprinted me, took my photo, and did NOT charge me. so... now what? what will happen after that? i am confused. can i leave the state? they can probably get a warrant later right? can anyone shed any light on this? how does it work? is the statute of limitations the same if you were never charged with any crime, or is there a time limit for them to charge me? it is hanging over my head and making me a nervous wreck. i just want to know how long i will need to continue to freak out.
has this ever happened to anyone?
