    I checked to be sure that Maine has a statute for emancipation (not all states do) but as one writer to another, that's research for you to do. I've got enough research to do with my own books. (wink)

    Fair enough! I'm gonna give myself a break and ignore the 1980 part and just focus on current law in the hopes that it hasn't changed much. At least I have a direction to head in. Everything else I came up with was not at all hopeful. Very strictly in the "they would both be wards of the state until 18."

    Now, I have hope! Thank you! ^_^
