My question involves criminal law for the state of: Maryland.
I was waiting outside a Walmart store in Maryland for someone to come out and was parked near the front of the store. I was not parked in any fire lanes, and there were no signs stating no parking or standing, nor was I in the striped area for pedestrians. A loss prevention guy (at least, I assume that's what he was... he had a yellow reflective vest but no other identifying material) told me I had to move and I was in a fire lane, I told him I would not move because I was waiting for someone. He told me a second time to move, I declined. He wrote down my tag number and walked away. Not more than a minute later, my passenger came out of the store and entered my car, and we drove off.
What, exactly, can they do with my tag number? Was this just an overzealous loss prevention officer?
