Default One Copyright Agreement to Cover All Future Ones

Let's say a concert promoter hires a video production company to record their concerts with the agreement that the video copyright goes to the concert promoter.

If this happens once in a while, they can just sign the agreement each time there is a concert.

What if this is an on-going business, meaning many concerts are held throughout the years, can they sign some sort of perpetual agreement that would make it unnecessary to sign one every time?

    Something like

12345 video production company agree to give all copyright to 54321 concert promoter for all the videos shot at their concerts from now on .

Obviously if the video company changes their mind later on, they can request a new agreement to void this one.

To whom does "their" refer in this sentence? Are you saying that the promoter is hiring the production company to record all concerts that the promoter promotes?

with the agreement that the video copyright goes to the concert promoter.
Are we supposed to assume that either the promoter or the production company has secured all required licenses for the works performed at the concerts?

They can do anything they like. I think most lawyers would recommend a master services agreement and short/simple supplemental agreements for each video made.

I hope it goes without saying that each party involved should be consulting with a copyright attorney before agreeing to anything.

Do have an attorney write any contract you make. However, what you describe is called a work made for hire in copyright law.

Generally, the person who creates a work is considered its “author” and the automatic owner of copyright in that work. However, under the work made for hire doctrine, your employer or the company that has commissioned your work, not you, is considered the author and automatic copyright owner of your work.

So one contract with the promoter would cover all the video you shoot for that company and the promoter would own the copyrights.
