    Default Help

Hello all, please help me. I am worried sick over a situation that has happened to a friend and am losing sleep over it. Friend of mine was using a popular chat site omegle and confided in me he came across a girl in a chat. The convo started light. He asked her many times during the chat if she was 18. She indeed told him multiple times that she was. He told her he just wants to make sure because he's not looking for trouble or even carrying a convo with a minor. He is in the US and she claimed to be in Europe. After she reassured him the convo went on leading her to "show" herself to him. He says there was some light dirty talk but that's it. No info was exchanged other than first names. He had no suspicion until after the fact and felt horrible to the thought he might have done something wrong. Any advise of help would be greatly appreciated.

Friend is 30 and she stated multiple times she was 18.

    Help you what?

Your friend is an idiot or you're a troll.

Either way, if your friend thinks he's in trouble with the law he should keep his mouth shut, stay out of chat rooms, and talk to a lawyer.

Tell your friend to stay off of Omegle and other chat sites, and stick to meeting women in real life.

If he does get an email from the girl's "father" stating she is underage and demanding money, he should ignore it. It's a well-known scam on guys who let their little heads do the thinking.

Yes, understood. I agree, very stupid of him. We all do stupid things in our life time. He is worried that he might get in trouble? If she stated numerous times she was 18 and it was consented is there any repercussions? What if she lied about her age? No info was traded.

If/When he gets contacted by local/federal authorities and/or indited he should seek the help of an attorney immediately. Until that time comes he can live in fear that it may be coming. Or it may never come. No one here can give you that info.

And as already stated if/when the "father" or "older brother" or other family members contact him and state he needs to pay up for his actions he can ignore it.

    As pointed out:
    1. Stay off these chats.
    2. Do not send or receive visual sexual contact.
    3. Do not attempt to meet people online who are not adults.
    4. If contacted by authorities, refuse to speak to them without an attorney. An attorney will almost certainly tell you to refuse to speak with them period.

As a parent of an (adult) child involved in a child porn investigation, I can tell you that an official investigation will almost certainly come in the form of an action on your ISP for your identity, not some random email or chat message.

That you're having this sort of reaction to a situation that has nothing to do with you suggests you may need the services of a mental health professional.

Given your statement that "there was some light dirty talk but that's it, I'm at a loss to understand what this might mean.

What exactly do you (or does your friend) want help with. All you've told us is that your friend engaged in online "dirty talk" with another person who claimed to be an adult female. That's it. Are we supposed to assume things?

    Get in trouble for what?

I have no idea what "it" refers to in this sentence.

For all you, your friend or I or anyone else knows, the person on the other end of the conversation was a 55 year old male.

Losing sleep over this is silly.
