My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Washington

I don't understand the rules of relocation and notification. We have a 50/50 shared parenting arrangement. I would like to relocate 5 miles within our current school district. My child attends school in my co-parents district. Nothing would change other than our residence.

Am I required to file a Notice of Intent to Relocate or will an Our Family Wizard message suffice?
Am I required to notify 60 days before the actual move?

Thank you,

Leah

(I don't speak law)
How far do you live from the other parent (and the child's school) now? What will the distance be after the move? Why are you moving? Basically, I am asking questions to see if anything in your arrangement might give the OP sufficient grounds to bring the matter to court without looking like he she was nit-picking.

For example, if you are already struggling a bit to get the child back and forth from school on your days, adding 5 more miles might exacerbate the situation. If you are moving in with a new significant other that might impact the children more than you might think.

Generally 5 miles should not be a problem and notifying him/her over Our Family Wizard might be sufficient...but the devil is in the details.
