I contacted Social Security at the beginning of this year concerning allowing Medicare to eat up all the increases I received for the last 5 years.
The COLA for those years is a total of 6%. So since January of 2015 to the present, my net payment stayed the same.
When I complained, they stated that even though I have my 40 quarters paid in, I did not make enough money during the early part of my working life.
Well that should not effect the COLA, So I do not understand why they mentioned the amount of money I made
The COLA is supposed to cover all costs of living, not just medicare.
So why is Social Security allowing Medicare to take all of the COLA?
Do you think I have a case and if so, would filing a class action be the best approach?
I worked under Social Security for 10 years and then switch jobs that had a pension program without Social Security.
