    I've done some checking and, unfortunately for you, it appears the law on these issues is slightly different in California (which was the point of reference for my previous statement) than it is in Georgia. The latter fails to make a distinction between vehicles approaching the intersection and those that have already entered it. Your chances of contesting the officer's statement of fault are not good.

    Thank you everyone for taking the time out of your day to give your input, it is greatly appreciated. Overall it looks like I am in the wrong and regardless of circumstances it will remain that way so I will let insurance deal with it.
