There is no what if in a disability claim. You have a disability that prevents you from working or you don't. And if you can't work in one industry but could work in another, that is not a disability that you can claim for.

That was interesting to read through. But accordingly, OP does not have a severe impairment that would not allow him/her to work at present and their skill set (unknown to us) may be applicable to many industries.

Thanks for posting that link. I will keep it in mind for myself.

There is little to no justice in the system. I really think they prefer we die rather than living long enough to collect SS.

He never mentioned anything about any disability of any type?

    I am OP.
What would requirements be for me to collect disability? My health issues apparently are not serious enough to prevent me from working a full-time manual labor job in retail. Yet, if I contract viral pneumonia again, I could very well die, this time. Developed respiratory problems due to exposure to black mold many years ago. Was in hospital 13 days last summer, 8 of them in a coma!
First, if you are grossing over the SGA when applying, they won't even accept your claim, unless it is a sudden illness as you say, and you are in the process of adapting to the SGA. SSD online outlines criteria.
