Default Shoplifting Charge Changed to Municipal Ordinance

    Hi,

I wanted to know what does it means by Shoplifting charge amended to B. O. 5-14.3 (Loitering)?

If someone asks "Have you ever convicted in a crime" Can i say NO

Will it show on Backgrond check? I think arrest will still show up.

    Thanks,

My attorney said that this is a local violation and is not treated as a crime and If someone asks "Have you ever convicted in a crime" I can say NO

B.O. - in this context, I'm assuming you mean borough ordinance, and you're not being fined for poor personal hygiene. You didn't identify your state, but it's not unusual (in those states that have them) for a borough ordinance violation to be treated as something less than a criminal conviction.

    You've never heard of B.O.?
