My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: North Carolina
Hello friends!
I recently moved from the state of North Carolina to the state of Texas. While in NC, I received a speeding ticket for driving 80 mph in a 65 mph. I was actually going 85 but the officer cut me a break and reduced it to 80. The officer told me if I was over 80 I would be required to appear in court, indicating he cut me a break. I thanked him and told him that was a big deal since I was moving in a few weeks. He nodded. Although I am now second guessing if I understood him correctly.
I paid the ticket online (~$220) and thought that was that.
Two months later I got a letter in the mail stating my license will be indefinitely suspended in October for failure to appear.
What happened and what should I do?
I have no plans to ever go back to NC, if anything I'll be moving west in a couple years.
Thank you.
Edit: my receipt even says "North Carolina Waivable Offenses."
