Especially since you have a nonverbal child, Apple FaceTime or whatever audio visual interface Android has available would be a great way for the father to interact with the child
since the court order specifies no less than 15 minutes and no more than an hour, if there is activity up to an hour you would be best served by allowing the interaction to continue for that hour.
you are not obligated to chaperone the calls and in some cases, such activity is actually prohibited by the courts. Parolguys suggestion of handing the phone to the children and letting them talk with daddy would be a great idea. Unless you have some valid reason to object to the father allowing others to interact with the children during the calls, it is not something you should be taking issue with. That is the father’s time and just as if the children were physically visiting him, if dad chooses to share his time with others, it’s his choice. Besides, going to court arguing he is letting your children speak with others comes off as really controlling on your part and a judge just have a real problem with that.
and it is a really sad statement that you feel the father talking “at” the child is a waste. I couldn’t talk at anybody for an hour without some response. Any interaction between the father and the child should be welcomed and fostered. If the child is listening to dad, then talking “at” the child is beneficial. It is involving the child. Shame on you for suggesting it is wasted time.
