Hello. I am new to this site. I live in FL but actions in question occured in Ga.
My aunt who is 48 has come forth and told our family that from the age of 11-18 (when she moved out) she was repeatedly raped by her stepfather, after he married and moved in with my grandmother( her mom). It was distressing news to all of us as he is still married to my grandmother. I was also abused by this man on several occasions when I was 6, 11, 15 yrs old. My abuse was limited to fondling, groping, innappropriate kisses, and verbal innuendo. I am now 38. I came forth with this information to my family when she told us about her abuse. I had already shared the info with good friends and my husband years ago as my aunt had. We suspect he may have abused others in his family b/c none of them have ever wanted anything to do with him through the years. My aunt has been through extensive counseling. She confronted him and he admitted to her he was wrong and that he does not want to go to prison for this. He is 72 now. My question is this...Is there any recourse, has it been too long? By the way, he denies everything to everyone else. I have not confronted him myself either. My grandmother is in the hospital and has been heavily medicated so I do not thik she is aware of the situation yet. If there is no legal recourse, how do I go about making sure he does not hurt someone else. Any input is greatly appreciated.
