That is incorrect in Florida. The statutes state that the court must order shared parenting WITHOUT regard of the child's age. Florida is a state who's statutes were written with the belief that children of every age need to be with BOTH parents as equally as possible. Also, the appellate courts have long held that breast feeding is NOT a reason to limit a father's visitation or parenting time.

It is true that it is imortant for babies to be with their mothers, however, it is equally important that babies be with their fathers.
Then I would advise this mother not to file until she would be more comfortable with the idea of her breastfeeding baby spending equal time with a father who it seems is reluctant to be a dad, at best.
