Default Steer Me in the Right Direction

    Good afternoon,

Could anyone please hint me how does the system of selling a right to seek the recovery of damages through the court work: in particular, how to evaluate the potential of the case and how to ultimately sell it, and advice firms that specialize in this field.

The essence of the matter: my name got involuntarily involved into illegal schemes of high-ranking officials, me being completely strange and irrelevant to these schemes. Accidentally I got to know about this, tried to fix the situation, which led only to worsening my position.

    Thank you

What you would be doing is assigning your potential recovery to an investor who will pay you a fraction of the estimated recovery. It's popular with personal injury claims where liability is clear and a potential recovery can be estimated. Still, a claimant would likely get only a small percentage of his potential share after the lawyer gets his and the medical providers or health insurance gets theirs. Could be as little as a dime on the dollar.

If you could find an investor willing to buy the assignment of your claim, that investor would be the one who evaluates it and comes up with a dollar amount to offer you, if there is any offer at all.

There are investors out there that fund lawsuits in exchange for a percentage of the recovery but that's about as close as I can come to answering your question.

    You're welcome.

On another site you revealed you are located in Canada.

    Things might be different there.
