live in Michigan and I have property that was damaged by my neighbor. I called the police and had report filed. The report said that she did not admit to committing the damage, but she was to pay for the damages. It gave her two weeks to pay. The office said that if she did not that she would be ticketed for disorderly conduct.
That time has come and gone. I have contacted the police again. They found that she had given the wrong name and phone number to the officer. The name was completely wrong and the phone number belonged to her sister (who resides at a different location). I am now waiting for the officer who had initially came out and conducted the investigation to get back to come back out and talk to her again.![]()
The officer was told the correct information from my neighbors sister and then contacted her, and was told that she had no intention of paying for the damaged property.
Should I wait to see what happens? I mean she lied to the officer, and lied about damaging the property. How likely is it that I will be reimbursed for the cost of damages. Or her being charged with MDOP or disorderly conduct? Does anyone think that I will have to take this to court. What is the likelihood of winning a case against her?
Thanks
Jen
