I was convicted of bank robbery in Washington State in 1978. from 1983 to 1987 I worked in the juvenile justice system in King County/Seattle. Seven years ago I was injured in construction and went back and finished 2 degrees and now find I can't work with juveniles, elderly, disabled, or the mentally ill. (Among others). I was recently turned down for a job as a counselor at a violent sex offenders unit because they are mentally ill.
I had the job. I read recently that, "Federal courts have ruled that felony or misdemeanor conviction should not be absolute criteria for rejecting a job applicant." I can absolutely prove that it happened. I need a job. I have 3 young kids and a wife. Can somebody out there help me? Where can I find this Federal Court Ruling?
