Default Harrassment of a Child on Omegle

My question involves criminal law for the state of: New Jersey

    Hello,
My 14 year-old child has been threatened by a stranger on Omegle and she get off her clothes at the cam. Now he is threatening us with sharing her videos at video sharing platforms. He has claimed that he is living in New Jersey and he is 35 year old to my girl. Don't know if it is truth. We are not living in US. I hope we can do something against him.

As a Non-US citizen, what can I do for this issue?

Take your child off omegle and take away her computer, laptop, phone, etc, until she stops being stupid.

    Call and report the man.

And follow AdjusterJacks advice...Keep your daughter off the net...and phone.

Are you saying that your child took off her clothes on a web cam?

Your citizenship status has no relevance to anything. You're free to contact the FBI about this person's threats, but they may be reluctant to do anything for a non-U.S. resident based on a threat alone (and, of course, it's possible that the guy lied about living in NJ). Beyond that, you should obviously take away all means of internet access for your child and try to find some sort of resources to ensure she doesn't repeat her behavior.

did You give her permission to use Omegle? If you did, shame on you. If you didn’t you need to deal with why your daughter lied when she agreed to the tos for Omegle. While I suspect there isn’t likely anything you can do about this incident unless the guy actually does post the pictures of your daughter, you can do something about your daughter visiting inappropriate websites.

What the guy did does violate the federal laws regarding child pornography. Simply knowingly receiving the video of a naked 14 year-old is enough to make him guilty. So as a previous response indicated, the OP may report this to the FBI. If he gets contacted by the FBI before he posts anything online then he'd be real fool to compound his legal problems by posting it, which would constitute a separate and more serious offense. So that may help provide an avenue to prevent the posting of the photos.

In addition, the OP could seek an injunction to prevent the guy from distributing the video to anyone.

So I think there are things the OP can do before he posts the videos, and it may well be worth doing to ensure that the videos are never posted.

Yes, I am quite aware of the actions of the unnamed guy are illegal. If the guy cannot be found, it means nothing will happen to him. I never said it can’t or shouldn’t be reported to the fbi but if the guy doesn’t do anything with the pictures. unless the op has more info about the guy than he has stated, it will be difficult if not impossible to identify and find him

if he posts the pictures somewhere, it makes him more discoverable but even then, if the guy isn’t stupid , he may still remain anonymous

Your suggestions are great, if the guy can actually be identified. I have my doubts that is possible right now. If the guy has half a brain and knows much of anything about remaining anonymous on the Internet, unless he can be identified by his image or some tell tale info he published, he may never be known.

Are you awware of how simple it is to hide your location and identity on the Internet?
