Here's what happened:
I was driving in a gated community where there's a posted speed limit of 25 mph . There was also clearly marked lines on the road along with a stop sign. I drive on this road every single time I visit my girl friend. Well I got pulled over for failure to stop. I don't get it. On this street, the road is inclined and I know I came to a complete stop because my car would roll back a bit after stopping (I drive a stick), it's basically my own "checks and balances." This is in a 4 way stop. After coming to a complete stop (with the hood of my car lined up with the crosswalk), I looked left and right, but my view was obstructed because the cars were parked on the sidewalk. I wasn't comfortable going through the intersection without being 100% sure that there weren't kids on their bikes coming from either directions (this was around 2pm "noted on my ticket"). So after I came to a complete stop and as the car rolled back a bit. I decided to slowing inch forward, until I can clearly view traffic from both directions (keep in mind that I've already come to a complete stop). When everything was clear, I proceeded to enter the intersection. A few seconds later, I heard the "siren" (buuuuuuurrrrrrrrnnnnnn - high pitched). So I pulled over and I didn't know what he was going to say. I thought he was going to saying something about not having my license plate on or my windows being too dark. Even though I was upset, I didn't say anything to the officer because I figured, if he's going to cite me for this ticket, he had no intention of giving me a warning.
This kind of ticket is one of those avoidable citations. It's clear as day and there's no gray area. Kind of like, driving with your seat belt. You either have it on or you don't. Well I came to a complete stop (car was moving backwards, like always).
With all due respect to officers and judges (your honor), I'll lose this if I go to court because as an officer of the court, their word will have more weight than mine. Yeah, I can plead guilty and pay the fine and go to traffic court. I'd do that in a heart beat if this was just. I was also thinking, what if I get cited for something I did do? Like going 40 in a 35 speed limit. I won't be able to go to traffic school.
I've thought about taking pictures from inside my car and outside my car, to reenact the event. But not trying to sound negatively, but bottom line is, what the officer testifies in court will be enough to convict me, regardless of how many pictures I take to prove my case.
Can anyone give me their feedback. Thank you.
