Hi,
My son received two misdemeanors in Pinal County. Possession of marijuana (personal use) and paraphernalia, He went to court and used a public defender. He selected to attend an intervention class. Before he started/completed the class he was busted again (3 months after the 1st offense) for the same two offenses, this time in Maricopa County. We hired an attorney, went to court and my son was able to attend TASC, paid a $750 fine and the attorney states all charges will be cleared upon successful completion (urine testing- 3 to 6 months). I do understand this is AFTER the fact. But, was it necessary to even hire an attorney? We're happy with the outcome but have heard that we could have just used a public defender and would have received the same outcome? What is the going rate to hire an attorney for a situation such as this? Thank you.
