Default Joining the Military with a Traffic Misdemeanor

So some of you might know about my having to deal with a hit-and-run charge two counties over. Right now, I'm considering joining the Army, and have even spoken with a recruiter. I'm keeping him updated on the case, which has to be dealt with before any further processing can occur. In addition to that, the probation I'm on (for two years) has to expire as well; there is, though, the off-chance that the case could be dismissed as early as March. That being said, is having to deal with a traffic misdemeanor in any way impactful on the enlistment process? Thanks!

As long as you disclose it, a single misdemeanor (especially traffic) won't likely be a problem. The military can't take you while you're still on probation.

Moreover, if you're involved in any crime (perpetrator, witness, victim,) should you disclose it to a recruiter?

Victim or witness? They won't ask and they won't care. Perpetrator? You'd better explain what you're talking about. All arrests and convictions must be reported as well as any protection orders against you. They will also ask about alcohol and drug use. You must answer these truthfully.
