How to Gain Legal Possession of an Abandoned Vehicle in Kentucky

My question involves gaining a legal title of a vehicle left abandoned on my property. I am being told by the dmv in Kentucky that only towing companies can file for the title. Is this true?

Yeah, something like that. You can report the abandoned vehicle to the police and the police can authorize its removal. Whoever they authorize for the removal is also authorized to sell it to cover the expenses. It's often an involved process that involves notices and attempts to locate the owner.

The bottom line is you don't get to own it unless you want to bid on it when it comes up for auction after it is properly removed.

I suggest you contact your local police and report it for removal.
