Default Will I Get a Criminal Record for Shoplifting if Police Didn’t Physically Come

My question involves criminal records for the state of: Canada
So, a few days ago I thought I would try shoplifting with a friend. Me and her took a few items and concealed them and proceeded to walk out. We were stopped outside by lp and I was asked to come to their room. He took down only my name first and last and birthdate. He asked for ID but I had none since I’m 16. He then went over my options then he called the police just to ask if I’ve ever shoplifted before and the police said no. So he made me sign a form to just ban me from the store for one year. Do I have a criminal record? Any record of some kind? I know I’ll be in the store’s system

At this point no, you do not have a criminal record. Get caught again, and you WILL end up with one. Get caught inside the store while you are banned could get you one as well.

Nope, you don't get a criminal record until you are actually arrested. Simply returning to the store could get you arrested for trespassing.

I hadn't heard that Canada had become a state. Welcome!

While I don't disagree with the prior responses, it is unlikely that anyone here will know anything about Canadian law or the law of the province where this happened.

it's not imposible to get charged but at this point is seems like they would have proceeded already if they were going to.

do not under any circumstance enter that store or any other in the chain (if it's a chain) while banned.

if they are giving you a break it is definitely a one time only sort of thing
