    If by "ok" you mean, "not illegal" the answers are:


    marital status yes
    living situations yes
    educational background or current student status yes
    health information depends on specifics but probably yes.

    With the possible exception of health information, and in the majority of circumstances even health information,this is not protected information and thus they can do pretty much everything but post it on a billboard on the interstate and as long as it's true and does not put you in a deliberately false light, that's all she wrote.

    Bottom line, your co-workers, outside of HR and not always then, do not have a duty of confidentiality to you.
