Default No Longer Qualified for a Mortgage, Seller is Keeping $15,000 Deposit

My question involves real estate located in the State of: FL.

I entered into a contract to build a house using my VA Homeloan and had to pay the builder a $15,600 cash deposit. I am no longer qualified for loan because my finances changed as a result of my home sale and fiancee leaving me. My lender gave me a letter of Loan Denial. Builder is refusing to give me my $15,600 back. Can someone help me please. Im a Veteran and I need this money back... Contract states that this has to be done within 45 days of contract. Well The problem recently occured so they are Selling to another buyer and choosing to keep my $15k.

Take the contract to a lawyer.

Did you send this letter to them within 45 days. If so you are in your right to get your deposit back. However, if not, they likely can keep it.
