Most likely the case was dismissed because your attorney pointed out to the judge that you were never provided the "terms" you were speaking about. Yes, that sort of thing can be humiliating to both the detective and prosecutor.
Well, not so much the officer as he most likely relied on the terms of Probation that he was provided. The officer likely had no way to know - nor any reason to investigate - whether the probationer had ever been properly advised of the terms. I know that it's never been a part of MY inquiry on a probation matter.
