Im currently a student at UC Davis and my family lives in Oakland, and when i got my job i told them i cant work weekends because i go home every weekend. And today i found out they scheduled a store meeting on Sunday may 13 which is mothers day. I already had plans to go home, then go with my family to church. I told my work this and they said i have to come. They allow 2 write ups and the 3rd they fire you. I have 2 for being late a while back and they said if i don't show ill get a 3rd then be fired. What legal actions do i have here if any? I would think theres a law that cant force a job to make you work on a day you will be at church? If so could you point it to me as i will print it out and give it to my employer. If not i guess ill have to go, I just feel its wrong for them to scheduled it on not only mothers day but Sunday as well.
