On March 15th, I received an unexpected pre-tax bonus of $500. I was not notified but found out through my employer, when it didn't appear in my account, that it was being held until the FOC office (Oakland County, Michigan) indicated it could be released, if at all. They indicated this is a state mandate and that they have 6 - 8 weeks to notify my employer of their actions.
However, FOC is telling me that the "6-8 weeks" is an arbitrary number and it could take as long as 90 days for them to "get around to it." I've attempted to research but cannot find any clear rules or stipulations on why exactly this occurs and the timeframe they are allotted (if any) to settle the matter.
I understand the directive but am confused - if this is a STATE mandate, why is it not happening with everyone. I have proof of that.
Can anyone point me in the right direction so that I have some clear-cut answers?
Thank you.
