My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: OR
I recently parked my vehicle at a popular chain convenience store that I have frequented almost daily for the past couple of months. I purchased my usual lunch items then went to the park and consumed them then went on a lengthy walk. I was gone for about 2.5 hours, but when I returned my car had been towed as per direction of the store manager because apparently it had ‘been there for too long’. There are no posted signs at the business place for maximum parking times, merely just pavement writing that says ‘xxx customers’. The tow ended up costing $315...
Is this a legal practice in Oregon if there is no signage about towing and I was a paying customer? The tow company told me it’s entirely up to the business, and could be as little as 10 minutes if they just don’t want your car there. This didn’t seem right to me and I don’t know the laws, so I was wondering if someone here could answer that for me.
