    Default Employment Contract

My company, Generation rehab, disolved as of April 1, 2007. A new contact company which promised to hire us all came in and I have been working for them since April 1. We have had a specially cut paycheck in the middle of this month due to their agreement with Generation Rehab. I was informed April 28,2007, that I must sign an employment contract before april 30, or I would not be paid. I did not have a copy of the contract and they declined to fax it to me. They sent it to me in next day mail so I recieved it April 29, 2007. I have several concerns about this contract. A. A non-compete clause (which I have never had to sign before) B. They say all legal matters must take place in Ohio and I live in MI C. I must give 4 weeks notice if I am to leave the company or pay them my wages. D. I feel I am being cohersed to sign this contract. E. Shouldn't I get a bit more time to review/consider this contract?
Can someone advise me on my rights in this matter?
    Thank you!

    Default Re: Employment Contract

Your best bet when you have an employment contract (& this one includes a non-compete clause) is to have it reviewed by an employment attorney. Do not sign anything you are not comfortable signing or that you don't completely understand. We really can't tell you much since we can't see/read the contract.
