Default Obtaining Citizenship Through U.S.-Born Kids

My wife and I are both foreign nationals who at one time had green cards.....now lapsed
Both our " kids " 29 and 27 ..we're born in the US and our son now lives there
How difficult would it be to obtain some kind of visa/citizenship to stay longer than the 3 months we are currently given.
We do not intend to work but instead may wish to stay longer than the 3months normally given. We currently visit 5/6 times per year for only 1/2 week periods

Understand permanent residence (which is a requirement for ultimate citizenship), is not intended for those who just want an easy way to enter the US for transient visits. It's for people who intend to continuously and permanently reside here. I suspect the abandonment (if you ever had intended it) of permanent residence was the reason your prior green cards are no longer valid.

There's no PATH to citizenship without becoming a permanent resident for five years. This appears to not be your intent.

What country are you coming from?

Coming from UK. One Irish and one UK passport holder. Don't wish to work or reside permanently there......but maybe stay for longer than the 3months normally given.
For example would like to do the Appalachian trail in one go which takes 4/5 months

Maybe I should be looking more towards visas than citizenship....
Any suggestions for visa that allows for stays of longer than 3months

I assume you're entering under the VWP? That's what's good for 90 days.

You could apply for a B visa, which can allow stays of up to 180 days.

You could always do what one of my friends used to do and run up to Canada or off to the Bahamas (depending what time of year it was) and reenter. Nothing says you have to go back to the UK (or Ireland).

Thank you. I think B visa is what we need
Will look in to this further
