My question involves collection proceedings in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
A credit company sued me in PA magistrate court for unpaid debt. I received a default judgement in my favor. It is my understanding that this judgement means that legally I am not responsible for this debt. And, comsequently, it must be removed from my credit report.
The legal action occurred in 2015. The bad debt is still present on my credit report. I disputed it, providing court documentation of the judgement. None of the bureaus would remove it.
Two questions:
1. Am I right in my understanding that the bad debt must be removed from my credit report as a result of the judgement?
2. If so, what actions can I take to ensure it is removed?
