About 2 years ago, I had some dental work done at Western Dental and signed a contract to pay what my husband's military insurance wouldn't cover. At the same time, my younger sister had braces put on that I was paying for, so I signed for those too (only me). I made the payments while I could, but then because of illness I could no longer make the payments and these bills went to collections. Now they are saying that they are in the process of suing me, my husband, AND my Dad over these 2 bills unless I pay them off in full, or at least make a huge down payment and then monthly payments, which we cannot afford right now. I offered to settle them with what I had from our tax refund, but they wouldn't accept it. Now I need to know if they can really sue my husband over a bill he didn't sign for? They are calling him the "co-signer" but he wasn't there and never signed anything. They are also saying they can sue my Dad over my sister's bill, because he is the father of the patient, but he has Crohn's disease and is on SSI with no other income (except what we give him to make rent and buy groceries). I don't know how this pan out, but any advice is very appreciated! I don't think they can garnish SSI from my Dad, and I don't have any income (stay-at-home-mom), but if they can garnish my husband's wages, we would be in trouble because he is in the military and they frown on that. Thank you for any help.
