My question involves criminal law for the state of: California
So, I was dumb, thought I'd take a spin at something I hadn't done for a while (at least a year ago). Of course that was cyber sex related to a random video chat site Chatrandom. I didn't read the Terms of Service (idiotic, I know), and I was unaware of any recent online law (I believe) that I think involves around cracking down child pornography online. Because of this new or change in law, or maybe a software update, I'm not really sure, a photo was snapped of myself (yes, I was exposed) for review for improper use of the site. I never knew whether or not this activity was against the rules before as I was told about said activity by a couple of friends years ago (the act of cyber sex with random adults online via a random adult chat service).
Anyway, I was under the impression that this was an adult site to begin with which is why I never read the Terms of Service. Anyway, about 2-5 minutes in I noticed the warning about no nudity or sexual acts at the bottom of the window which didn't show up for a few seconds after loading a new person. I was skipping people quickly, all adults to my knowledge (no one looked younger than their 20s from what I saw), during those couple of minutes. Moments after I took the time to actually read the warning blurb, that's when I got hit with the ban. Again, a photo of myself exposed was taken for review. This brings up a window saying I can expedite the review process for 10 bucks (covers a resource fee according Terms of Service, however there is no place to respond about the suspension), and I emailed them about the photo (I didn't pay for an expedite), but I am still paranoid because I don't know how this will be handled.
Anyway, because this was all new to me, I actually read the Terms of Service and learned about the review process, but because there's so much going on, I am even more paranoid now and I just want answers. I don't care about the service, I don't want to use the service anymore, I just want peace of mind that I am not going to be reported for a sexual offense and have to register as a sex offender. Everyone was an adult that I saw, I was under the impression this was an adult site (from past experiences and word of mouth), And given the chance I would have closed out as I wanted to avoid this kind of situation to begin with! It's why I stopped doing this junk for the most part last year and I made the mistake of giving it a go again this morning.
Here is a link to the Terms of Service for reference: https://chatrandom.com/terms/
My ip address ban and photo is under pending review (I don't have an account to the site, always went in as a guest) as far as I am aware and should be reviewed in 30 days from today, maybe sooner, or immediately if I pay 10 dollars.
I seriously just need advice and peace of mind. I am stressed and afraid.
TL;DR
I went to Chatrandom, a site I was under the impression was for adults for random video cybersex (based on word of mouth and past experiences using the site) and was banned because I failed to read the Terms of Service about exposure. I had use this site last year with no issues.
This was the only time I used the site this year, so I was unware if any changes were made. (Not sure if it is legal changes, or site changes, etc. All I know is it happened)
The ban took an exposed photo of myself for review for sexually criminal activity, no face was shown. I don't know if this is about child porn, or if even what I did with adults will lead to a report to authorities
Terrified about the concequences and I just want answers, but the website is not forthcoming about whether I will only be banned for breaking Terms of Service, or if there will be a report being made for sexual misconduct.
