Default Show Cause For Contempt And Failure To Pay Fines

I have a show cause for failure to pay fines. I owe 916.00. Should I obtain a lawyer? What is the punishment? Could I face jail time? I don't have any of the money right now. Or should try and explain to the judge why I haven't paid any of the money since my court date a month and a half ago? Can I get an extension?

You should pay off all of the fines, then go to court and apologize for the court for violating the terms of your sentence, and you should do so expeditiously. It would not hurt to consult a criminal defense lawyer. Yes, by violating the terms of your sentence and being found in contempt of court, you risk jail time.

And, if you can't afford the whole pile right now, bring as much as you possibly can.
