Default Petition for Immigration of Parents

If you naturalize as a United States citizen, you can petition for your parents and siblings to immigrate to the United States. If they are outside of the United States, the USCIS must approve for them an immigrant visa petition. If they are lawfully within the United States, they may apply to adjust their status to that of a lawful permanent resident using BSCIS Form I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status). The length of time it takes to complete this process depends upon a great many factors.
