Default Theft by Deception from Employer

I am a college student in New Jersey and committed theft by deception from my employee up to $6,000, due to extreme personal circumstances. I have never been charged with anything else and have been completely cooperative with the employer, admitting to it, and even returning some merchandise. I am completely willing to pay restitution and do any amount of community service required. What do you think my best course of action is, and what is likely to happen. I have received a summons, does that mean the employer will prosecute, and what can I expect? Please help, Thank you.

if u received a summons then someone will prosecute..even if the employer does not.. it will probably be handed over to the state and the state will handle it

    Correct.

Make sure this is paid off in full before you go to court.

It will make you look better.

Thank you for both of your responses. My court date is April 24. Honestly there is no way I can come up with that kind of money, but I already voluntarily signed a promissory note form with my employer saying I would pay them restitution, and have returned some merchandise voluntarily as well. Given that I fully intend to pay the full amount back and I have no other offenses on my record, will I go to jail? I'm really afraid.

    Money talks.

    Your intentions mean nothing.

okay so in your recommendation, i need to come up with as much money as possible to pay it off, be sincere and cooperative. If I do this what do you think the possible range of outcomes is for me? What can I do to ensure a favorable outcome, do you think jail is likely? I just really want to pay them back as fast as I can and finish college.
