Default Re: Emancipation of a Pregnant Teen in Arkansas

I work in healthcare and know emancipation regarding release of medical records. If the child is 15 and pregnant does this award her emancipation or does she have to reach the age of 16? What grounds does she have in regards to moving from her mothers to live with her noncustodial parent or boyfriend's parents?

    Thanks,

What you are referring to is medical emancipation, it is not the same as being considered free from parental control.

At what point could she be free from parental control? Would it be the same as above, 16?

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
The administrator has created your own individual thread. You can go there and continue your questions. Also since you are adding to an Arkansas emancipation thread, is this your state also?

Default Re: Does Pregnancy Cause Emancipation of a Minor

Pregnancy does not EVER render a minor free from parental control. If she is under 18, ALL pregnancy will do with regards to emancipation is allow her the freedom to make her own medical decisions and those for her baby (with the help of her doctor). For example, she cannot be forced to get an abortion, or prohibited from same.

But pregnancy not only does nothing to free her from parental control regardless of her age, it makes it LESS likely that legal emancipation will be granted.
