Default Setting Off the Store Alarm After Shoplifting

I stole something from Dollar General (which I regret so much) I feel so much guilt. When I walked out the security alarm went off and I kept walking, no one stopped me. What can happen after this?

What can happen? Anything from nothing, to police knocking on your door with an arrest warrant. Sorry, my crystal ball is at the cleaners.

What probably will happen? Most likely nothing.

Even if nothing happens this time, if the store has identified you as a probable shoplifter, you can expect that you'll be watched like a hawk in the future.

I can't help but find it hilarious that the OP regrets it and has guilt about it but still does it and doesn't return the item.

Returning the item would put the OP in further legal jeopardy.

I agree, don't return it. My guess is nothing will happen. In the future, if you're going to steal, make it worth a jail sentence. Dollar General? Jeez.
