    Default Shoplifting Charge

The most common result, assuming no prior record, would be probation, a fine, and possibly community service or a similar requirement (such as working on a county work program). A local criminal defense lawyer can estimate your likely sentence, and tell you if you are eligible for any diversion programs or alternative sentences that would help you avoid a criminal record.

hi well i went to the jail and i got my finger prints taken and a picture too. the question that i have is about the following. last week i went to pay the bill that i got from macy's one of the girls there told me that if i paid that bill i didn't have to go to court but on saturday when i went to the jail i asked the guy at the lobby about what that girl told me and he said like you got the paper for court you still have to come. now my question is because i paid macy's would my penalty be smaller? would the court take that in concideration or not? my court is in two days on wednesday so i would love it if you could respond to my questions please!!

the money you paid Macy's is a civil matter. if you're going to court, then there is also a pending criminal proceeding. paying the civil remedy doesn't negate the criminal complaint unless Macy's decides to drop the charges and get them unfiled somehow.

The bill (civil demand) from Macy's is seperate from the court. If you pay it i don't think it will have any effect on your court case but if you dont pay it you could be sued by macy's in civil court which is more expensive. I say just pay the demand and get that part over with. I hope everything works itself out! Let us know what happens!

    Default court

hi well today was my court day i went there and waited for three hours till they finally called me. i think that my court was the shortest. well the judge told me that they had an offer for me that i could go and apply to PI to see if they accepted me in their program and that i had 48 hours to do it. that if i did this and if i get accepted into this program my charges would be droped and i think my record would be clean. that i could do this or go to trial i think! and of course i accepted so i have to go to some office to see if they accepted me in their program. i really don't understand what this program is about for what i understand is like a counceling or classses if anybody knows could you let me know what this program is? after this the judge told me that i had to go back on september 19 to see if they accepted my application.
