If you are a defendant in a lawsuit, can a court issue an injunction against you at the end of the case, a permanent injunction, if the court did not previously enter a temporary injunction? Does it make a difference if the plaintiff requested a temporary injunction and the petition was denied?

A court may enter a permanent injunction at the conclusion of a case, even if no temporary injunction was sought or obtained, and even if a petition for a temporary injunction was denied.

As is explained here, the burden on a party seeking a temporary injunction is very high. Due to that high burden it is common for preliminary injunctions to be denied, even in cases in which a permanent injunction is eventually granted.
